I did this in the middle of the night last night, I don't know what happened but one idea led to another, until I ended up drawing 'nykur' from an very old Faroese song I learned in school. Legend says that the nykur lives in the water and he can change shape in order to lure innocent people to follow him into the water and trap them there. But if you call him by his right name 'nykur' he loses his power and flees back into the water. ...I find the nykur to be a fascinating creature

I imagined he walks out of the ocean there in the drawing on his way to find a victim(little Elsa)!

Just because I could I put the song here in the description along with a very very crappy translation I did!XD I'm no poet so no rhymes just the story!

Nykurin læt sær klæði skera, / The nykur makes himself a costume,
- Harra mín - / - My Lord -
tí at hann vildi ein riddari vera. / Because he wants to be a knight.
- Um summarið, tær allir fuglar syngja væl. - / - In summer, when all birds sing beautifully -

Nykurin gekk í kirkjuna inn, / The nykur walks into the church,
prestar hildu messur fimm. / Priests have five masses.

Nykurin gongur á kirkjugólv, / The nykur walks on the church floor,
prestar hildu messur tólv. / Priests have twelve masses.

Elsa lítla smílir undir lín: / Little Elsa smiles secretly:
"Krist gevi, tann riddari hann var mín!" / “Good Christ, I wish that knight was mine”

"Else lille, giv mig tro! / “Little Elsa be faithful to me!

hálvur maður og hálvur bátur. / Half man and half boat.

Skundaði hon so snarliga heim, / She hurried home as fast as she could,
hon takkaði Gudi, hon fekk ikki mein. / She thanked God she didn't get hurt.
